The Death of Me

Is it bad that my one year old fakes barfing in a container?
He's going to have terrible memories of his mother.

There is Beauty All Around

The next day there was a note like this one only it had one dollar with it and it said,
Please take it! You guys have done lots for me. Love Jane"

Seriously one is my favorite so far. It warmed my heart.

The Sunshine Sunflower
The sun wakes up and shines on the sunflowers

Our Christmas Poetry gift by Charlie

The leaves are falling every color
What could be so beautiful.
But then theres something round and cold and white
Thousands of them falling slowly to the ground.
After that little buds are coming and little animals are getting born.
Then the animals are big.
Apples are so ready, waiting for someone to eat them off their tree.

Time

I read this quote on my favorite blog:

"Keeping my pace and focus as steady and calm as I can in the moments and days to come, despite the feeling that the whole world is rushing around and by me this season. There's no reason to race. In fact, there's every reason not to."

It reminded me of this talk from General Conference by Elder Uchtdorf titled

Cream coloured ponies and crisp apple streudles.. .

So this year my family was going to do service projects for each other instead of presents but I should have known how that would go down. No one in my family can resist buying presents. Which I have to admit ends up being pretty fun anyways, except that I stick to the rules and feel like a meanie. I say all this only to explain why our gift for my parents was a Christmas Program. We actually planned it for months and it was neat that they had a few songs they had written themselves planned. It was no small feat getting a cello, ukulele, music, the written program, and 4 fresh memories, to Edmonton among millions of other things. Plus, in my nauseous state, the simplest tasks are too difficult to bare- take having a shower for example, it's so exhausting that it requires a long nap afterwards to recover. Baba had to watch from work on Skype but Grammy, Mark and Jared were there. We were missing Eli's fam and Mariah.
Grammy bawled throughout. She was lamenting the thought of them getting older which I of course get waves of sadness for daily. Mark said he saw me about to cry during one part and that may be true but he could have easily too if he had been alone.

There were so many cute moments. This is Jane helping Scarlet bow after her memorization:
Counsel with the Lord in all thy doings, and he will direct thee for good; yea, when thou liest down at night lie down unto the Lord, that he may watch over you in your sleep; and when thou risest in the morning let thy heart be full of thanks unto God; and if ye do these things, ye shall be lifted up at the last day (Alma 37:37).

Jacob's memorization blew my mind. He recited a poem that we barely had learned once. He said it totally alone, from beginning to end, flawlessly. I could not. believe. it.

This is the big bow at the end.

After the performance Grammy gave them all the CUTEST toques on planet earth. Literally.

Jared brought me down to his room so I could wrap gifts for him. The next thing I knew, he was pulling gifts out of every nook and cranny- under the bed, in the closet, from drawers... He loves to get the nieces and nephews toys.

I had to post this picture because Scarlet LOVES her bear from Uncle J. It made for a great car pillow on the way home too.

Ezra's first Christmas.

Food in Jars. Can't wait to study this book, as soon as I like food again.
We went to Fairmont Hot Springs for a week at Christmas to snowboard so we got the three older kids snowboards this year.

I was worried Scarlet would feel left out of the snowboarding but she was happy as a clam with her yellow lace parasol and teal tutu.

The Truest Meaning

Shepherds would soon arrive and, later, wise men would follow from the East. But first and forever there was just a little family, without toys or trees or tinsel. With a babythat’s how Christmas began.

Familyness

The kids were all so unusually cooperative for these pictures. I couldn't believe it.

Aunt Jenny whipped up these curls, of course, as I only know how to let them wild and free.

I will die when he leaves on his mission. I've already decided.

Dreamy chocolate boy.

She couldn't get enough of Aunt Jenny's dance moves.

This is the reason I wanted family pictures. I usually get fancy baby pics and I still hadn't for Ezra.

Who says we won't grow old and start looking alike. I think I'm starting to see it already.
Am I really related to all these beautiful people??!

Seems like our family pictures have a short shelf life- we'll need a new one in 6 more months.

I was disappointed I didn't get the couch to myself, seeing that
I'm the only girl and therefore, the most special child in the family...

Little Moments

This is Scarlet's alphabet sand tray. She writes her letters in the sand, or flour, or cornmeal or whatever we put in it for the day. Jacob is so awesome to work with her on her letters regularly.
I think all moms love these moments. When the boys are quiet and still...

Jacob finished his lapbook on Rocks last month.

I found these two cuddled in the rubbermaid playing chess on the ipad.

Here's are little Christmas secret: Home Depot has perfect shaped, feathery Christmas trees for $20.
Charlie has been reading non stop since he tapped into Harry Potter. He got Every Flavor Beans for his prize when he finished.

Scarlet and Jacob are anxiously awaiting their reply from Santa. He better represent.

Best Guy Ever

Little Ezra won't get to be the baby very long but I'm pretty sure he's been loved to death so far. None of us can keep our hands off him. He's so juicy and loveable.

Little Janey

This is Jane's favorite face paint.
This is by far her most clever note. Don't worry the "wicked little girl...what I said was true, only I shouldn't have said it" part is her quoting Anne of Green Gables. She was totally joking.

This is so Jane. She is always begging for me to read aloud to her. We'll read for hours, until my throat is sore, and when I finally say it's enough for today she has a mini tantrum ;)

Dolly?

What? Sometimes a Dolly Parton quote helps. There. I said it.
